With mountain bikes, coffee, and a bag full of snacks we meet six friends at the Adam's Gulch trailhead. We roll out in the Mountain Fairy Shuttle as the sun comes up and drive to Baker Creek Road FS162 where we unloaded and started our ride.
For rocky ridgelines, windy mountain tops, post-ride pit stops and everything in between.
Taking the Osberg Ridgeline Trail we climbed switchbacks, crossed streams, and traversed lupine wildflower fields. I have never had the chance to ride through such lush wildflowers.
Everything you need to crush the singletrack and refuel at the brew pub.
After climbing to the highest point of the ride, we were gifted 360° views of the surrounding area. From here we descended fun and fast singletrack for another 5 miles to the Coyote Yurt.
After 15 miles of biking with 3,600 ft of elevation gain we were exhausted. As we rested our tired legs the Sun Valley Trekking crew poured us margaritas and started preparation on a feast of delicious carne asada tacos, beans, rice and fresh guacamole.
We played corn hole and watched the sun set on picturesque views of the Boulder and Pioneer Mountains.
We stargaze at the Milky Way and laughed by the fire, but eventually we succumb to heavy eyelids and the need to rest up for another day of riding.
We woke early sipped coffee and enjoyed the sunrise. Bikes were tuned and oiled in preparation for the descent back to Ketchum. We descended along the Adams Rib Trail, which offers 7.9 miles of singletrack, the majority of which was flowy downhill. We arrived at the Adam's Gulch Trailhead around 1pm where Sun Valley Trekking had prepared lunch for us.
After the ride we knew that we needed to find a Sun Valley hot spring to soak in. We ended up trying three: Russian John, Boat Box Springs and Mountain Village Lodge.
